Breguet Marine Chronograph

Breguet is a famous French fine watch making company started by Abraham Louis Breguet in Paris in 1775. Now part of the Swatch Group Ltd., it is one of the oldest surviving watch-making establishments and the pioneer of numerous watch-making technologies, the most famous being the tourbillon, invented by Abraham Louis Breguet. Breguet has lately launched a collection of pens as a tribute to writers who mention or describe Breguet timepieces in their masterpieces.

The Swatch Group Ltd. is a Swiss company, one of the biggest watch manufacturers in the planet (around 1/4 of the sales). It is the owner of some of the most renowned and fine watch brands of the history of watchmaking (Breguet, Omega, Blancpain, and Jaquet-Droz).

Breguet's uninterrupted traditions consist in perpetual creating and untiring innovating, always remaining ahead of one's time, while at the same time observing the rules of quality in engineering and esthetics which Mr. Breguet established, and which gave birth to the modern horology.

This year, the Marine 5827 chronograph adds a black rubber strap to its decisive personality. The new Breguet MARINE chronograph in 18-karat white gold boasts a face made of 18-karat silvered gold with a wave pattern. Its engine-turned face has totalizer minute and a second hand in the center, providing clear and easy legibility. A 12-hour totalizer at the 6 o'clock position and a subdial for the seconds at 9 o'clock, a date indicator at 6 o'clock and a 15-minute sector complete the info shown by the face.

The sapphire caseback of the timepiece lets you look at the premium precise movement. The timekeeper comes with a rubber band with a folding clasp. This horological masterwork is also obtainable in 18-karat yellow gold, on a leather strap or a yellow gold/white gold bracelet. The 14.10mm thick case provides water-resistance up to 100 meters.

The watch is fitted with a highly precise automatic movement (Caliber 583Q/1, 25-jewel, 48-hour power reserve).

By the way, Abraham Louis Breguet was the first to discover, through his oscillating platinum-weight watch, a formula which would make a dependable automatic (self-winding) watch. Breguet sold one of his first automatic watches to Queen Marie-Antoinette.
