EBERHARD & CO. TEMERARIO. DARING TRADITION

The EBERHARD & CO. watch company has recently expanded its collection with the fallowing models: the Chronomaster, the 8 days, the Chrono 4 and the Chrono 4 Temerario. While these watches are technologically sophisticated timekeepers bringing the well-known brand into the future, the tradition, frame of mind and reliability of the companyРІР‚в„ўs founder is maintained.

"Temerario" is an Italian word meaning "daring" or "wild", appropriate for this timepiece, which breaks with tradition: its big, domed tonneau case is a deviation from the companyРІР‚в„ўs traditionally round cases. But in other models the famous watchmaker keeps to its time-honored tradition. This watch, which was presented in Basel, 2005 boasts 3 exclusive patents: one referring to the movement, the second for a new type of crown protector, and the third for the exceptional design of the safety clasp on the deployant buckle.

The timepiece is fitted with an automatic EB 250, based on the ETA 2894 movement. The vertical arrangement of the subdials is also a daring innovation. EBERHARD & CO. had to make significant adjustments to the movement to achieve this unusual dial. Starting from the top, the meters are arranged in the fallowing order: continuous seconds, 24-hour indicator, chronograph hours, and chronograph minutes.

The layout of the counters is designed to provide wearers with a highly legible display: the dial seems to be less cluttered, and the chronograph totalizers are very close to each other. The Temerario is available in 2 versions: the sports version with large, rectangular markings or the classic version with raised Arabic numbers. Each version is available with a combination of a face in white, black or silver and subdials in black or white. Minute markers and luminous hour indices encircle the face and an inner tachometric scale. A tiny magnifying lens at the 8 o'clock position optimizes readability of the date display beneath it.

The case is 55mm long and 37mm wide and waterproof up to 30 meters, but this large case is ever so fashionable. Beneath the case near the button at 1 o'clock there is a second lever which, when released, opens the chamber where the winding crown is kept. When this chamber is closed, the winding crown is just partly visible, protected by a stainless steel cover that is hinged to the upper lugs but is effortlessly opened by the trigger lever. The caseback is carved "Temerario" in red, matching the hand of the 24-hour subdial.

EberhardРІР‚в„ўs loyalty to high tradition has obviously helped it keep its independence for nearly 120 years. The watchmakerРІР‚в„ўs most recent masterpiece, while based on time-honored tradition, boasts a daring design to extend Chrono 4 line. The continuous combination of tradition and innovation will always help EBERHARD & CO. be a global success.
