The A Lange and Sohne Datograph Perpetual: A New Work of Art

The introduction of the new A. Lange and Sohne Datograph Perpetual in 2006 was a great event. The new A. Lange and Sohne Datograph Perpetual is the first timekeeper to have an excellent combination of complications: a column wheel chronograph and a perpetual calendar. Many watch aficionados will surely fall in love with the marvelous watch because it is the most handsome chronograph of the century taking the present and eternity.

The Datograph Perpetual timepiece came into the history of watchmaking as a real landmark timepiece that boasts a lot of prominent contemporary characteristics, as well as traditional characteristic features of A. Lange and Sohne watches.

The beautiful silver face of the platinum case that measures 41mm is special - it has delicately offset symmetry. The Datograph Perpetual can stop times of up to 30 minutes reaching a precision of one fifth of a second for the chronograph. The accurately jumping minute sub dial guarantees premium readability. If you are the owner of the watch, you just need to push a button to reset the flyback function right away and restart the chronograph during the current timing.

The perpetual calendar shows leap years, the day of the week, the month, a day/night indication, the moon phase, and it features an outsized date window. The outsized date window will be accurate until the year 2100 and then one will have to move it forward by hand by one day. Moreover, the tremendously precise moon-phase display will need the first correction by only one day too in 122 years.

The buttons enable you to adjust the displays of the perpetual calendar separately with the button recessed in the case or advanced simultaneously with the main button. The timepiece boasts an interlock mechanism enabling the collective switching of the displays only when the winding crown is pulled.

The most sophisticated and skillful A. Lange and Sohne engineers managed to develop the excellent the timepiece which is made up of 556 individual components and has a complex mechanism offering reliable timekeeping performance.

The incomparable Lange L952.1 movement, every component of which is meticulously finished, is made up of plates and bridges made from premium German silver alloy. The chronograph mechanism controlled by a classic column wheel is placed on the side of the sapphire glass back. The complex calendar mechanism made up of 223 parts. After the wristwatch has been fully wound, the spring barrel gets a 36 hour power reserve.

The Datograph Perpetual is available exclusively in platinum and with a hand-sewn crocodile strap, or with a beautiful platinum bracelet.
