Carrera Calibre 360 - The Best Sport Watch of Year 2006

Carrera Calibre 360 - The Best Sport Watch of Year 2006

TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 360 ChronographThe famous saying that the history always repeats itself seems to be correct! During the last six years TAG Heuer watches have been awarded 4 times with the first prize of the annual Geneva Wathmaking Grand Prix in different categories. This year it was the legendary TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 Chronograph in the "Sport Watches" category.

This winning streak began back in 2002, when the grande independent jury has selected the Microtimer F1 in the category of "Best Watch Design". This wrist watch has impressed not only with its design, but also with its very accurate chronograph, able to measure time to 1/1000th of a second. In 2004 the same prize was won by TAG Heuer Monaco 69. This is a reversible model, which combined a mechanical and a digital movement in one watch. In 2005 the best ladies watch became the Diamond Fiction watch - an astounding combination of diamonds and colorful wrist straps.

And this year a TAG Heuer's watch was declared the best watch in the category of "Sport Watches". One of the most exceptional watches TAG Heuer has ever created - The Carrera Calibre 360 Chronograph was selected the best among other 10 nominees.

It should be taken also in account that the winners are being awarded by the most regarded and respected people of the world of haute horlogerie: by experts, journalists, watchmakers, retailers, historians and other professions.

Everything started in back 1914. At those times the timekeeping didn't have the possibility to be as accurate as today. In addition the sprinters at Olympic Games became so fast that they finished within one second and there was a need to measure fraction of seconds. So in 1914 the watchmakers have accepted the challenge to assemble a mechanical chronograph accurate to 1/10th of a second and afterwards another invention of TAG Heuer has fascinated the world of horology - a chronograph with a measuring precision of 1/100th of a second.

And the latest of these highly accurate watches was Carrera Calibre 360. This chronograph is able to switch its vibration speed from normal 28,800 vibrations per hour to 360,000 vph in chronograph mode, thus being able to display time at 1/100th of a second. The feature of switching the revolutions per minute index is characteristic to great sport cars from Porsche and other auto brands, when they switch from 7,500 to 75,000 rpm.

The Carrera Calibre 360 Chronograph is available in three variations: in steel, in pink gold (500 pieces) and in white gold (100 pieces).
