Corum Classical Tourbillon Saphir

Corum Classical Tourbillon Saphir

Today Corum is a symbol of elegance and craftsmanship in the world of watches. Its collections are well known to both watch collectors and watchmakers. 2006 is another page of rich events for the Swiss watch manufacturer. In 2006 Corum introduced its new Classical Tourbillon Saphir. This model set a new stage in horological know-how while continuing the tradition of Swiss watchmaking.

Classical Tourbillon Saphir

Classical Tourbillon Saphir outlines Corum's innovative design. Its movement is entirely sculptured in sapphire. The see-through effect if modified with the help of a special treatment. The latter allowed the sapphire to have a charcoal-grey tint. The contours of timepiece's moving parts are somewhat blurred by the color of the sapphire which creates an illusion of a night vision. Thus the parts of the movement are seen like shadows moving inside the case.

One of the greatest complications in the world of watches is the tourbillon. The Swiss manufacturer dared to surround it with a new world of transparency. Features that represent the technical and esthetical aspect of the watch are its black sapphire bridges and plates. These are able to estimate a mere 3/10th of a millimeter think. The line of Classical Tourbillon Saphir watches is a limited edition one comprising only 25 pieces.

The case of Classical Tourbillon Saphir is made of 950 platinum. The classicism of the watch is outlined by its cone-shaped case as well as lateral grooves and beveled edges. This masterpiece has its own unique signatures which are represented through the gold Roman hour markers and Corum key symbol which is engraved on the timepiece's crown.

Additional features of Classical Tourbillon Saphir include: 90 hours power reserve, 18 carat gold bezel with a hand engraving stating "grand feu" and anti-reflective coating. The diamond version of Classical Tourbillon Saphir includes 108 full-cut diamonds weighting 2.82 carats. The crocodile leather strap has an 18 carat gold clasp which is personalized with the Corum key. Luckily the vocabulary of Corum does not include such expression as "nothing special".
