In 2002, Time Square, the Chinese watch magazine, initiated the awards to nominate the best wristwatches of the year. The awards nomination was aimed to mark the exhibition called Champions of Time held in Shanghai.

Die Presse, an Austrian daily newspaper, paid tribute to another Glashutte Original exquisite creation - Senator Calendar Week. The timepiece won the first place in the 'Classic Elegance' category. It became the eleventh time the Austrian edition organized the watch of the year awards. Die Presse chose altogether 142 timepieces that corresponded to the highest technological and aesthetic standards of the modern watchmaking. The selection was to be divided into four categories - Complicated Mechanics, Feminine Luxury, Classic Elegance, and Sporty Dynamics.
The FORMAT, an Austrian financial magazine, found out that its readers were really interested in the latest horological achievements, and in particular the best mechanical watches developed in the Glashutte manufactory. The year 2006 marked the fifth time since 2002, the FORMAT magazine asked its readers to participate in the Chrono Award 2006. The awards ceremony took place in Vienna, the capital city of Austria. This time the palm was borne by the Glashutte Original GoldenDragon created in rose gold.
