To celebrate a half century of the legendary Emperador model, Piaget presents four creations paying tribute to the full range of watchmaking, jewellery and craftsmanship skills cultivated within the Manufacture. To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of this emblematic collection, Piaget proudly unveils four models inspired by the original 1957 case and combining a number of refined technical and aesthetic details such as the sunburst guilloché dial or gold hour-markers which embody the new graphic identity of the Emperador model, stronger and more elegant than ever. Each of these watches deserves a closer look at its specific features, bearing eloquent witness to the impressive range of expertise patiently perpetuated within the House of Piaget.
A highly exclusive tourbillon
Available exclusively from Piaget boutiques, this Emperador Tourbillon will be issued in a strictly limited numbered edition of just five watches worldwide. Its XL white gold case is graced with a new crown featuring a softer design. The white gold dial features a luxurious hand-engraved decorative motif providing an elegant contrast with the central part and the onyx baton-shaped hour-markers - a nod to the fine gemstone dials for which Piaget has become famous. The sapphire crystal case-back enables one to admire the meticulous engraving that appears on both sides of the watch and testifies to the superlative finishing cherished by Piaget and typified by the circular Côtes de Genève, blued screws and polished, hand-drawn bridges. The spectacularly ethereal architecture of the flying tourbillon - composed of 42 parts weighing barely 0.2 grams - is visible directly beneath the sapphire crystal through a round aperture at 12 o’clock. Complete assembly of this hand-wound Calibre 600P is entrusted to a single watchmaker and calls for around one month of scrupulous care and dexterity. Ref.GOA32122
Exquisite mother-of-pearl marquetry-work
This jewellery version of the large self-winding Emperador watch highlights several of the precious forms of expertise perpetuated and revived by the Manufacture Piaget. The case lugs and the rim of the white gold dial are adorned with a fine raised engraving blending acanthus leaves and floral motifs. This decoration is entirely hand-crafted and makes each watch a unique work of art. The bezel is lit up by a row of diamonds, hand-set by increasing order of size. At the centre of the dial, the most skilled artisans have cut out slender strips of mother-of-pearl to form a magnificent sunburst marquetry-work pattern. The small seconds in a hollowed square subdial at 10 o’clock signals the presence within this magnificent model of the ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 551P. Ref.GOA32059
A great vintage
The large size of this Emperador model particularly accentuates the design of the rectangular case with its subtle blend of straight lines and curves. The warm shade of the 18-carat pink gold further enhances its aura of harmony and strength. The silver-coloured dial provides a highly contemporary reinterpretation of classicism by combining a sunburst guilloché motif with slender baton-shaped applied hour-markers in pink gold, embodying the new dial identity of the Black Tie collection. The historical Piaget coat-of-arms is once again given pride of place in tribute to the anniversary of the Emperador model. Beneath this supremely distinguished face lies a self-winding Manufacture-made Calibre 524P with large date display - the flagship movement within the new Piaget collection of ultra-thin mechanisms. A garment of light
Piaget has lavished the full measure of its jewellery-making talents on this white gold model radiating an unmistakably masculine elegance. The XL case and its bezel are paved with diamonds, underscoring their original geometry. The dial is distinguished by typical Piaget refinement, featuring a diamond-set centre and a sunray guilloché rim - as well as the radiating white gold applied hour-markers and the Piaget coat-of-arms to be found on all creations inspired by historical models. Beneath the fiery sparkle of its 323 diamonds (totalling 3.4 cts) lies an ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 524P. The transparent case-back enables one to admire the dextrous handiwork of the craftsmen who exercise their skills within the Piaget decoration workshops, exemplified by circular Côtes de Genève, blued screws and polished, hand-drawn bridges.
