Watches of the Year - New Russian Award

Russian Watch Press Award was organized in fall due to the joined efforts of a group of watch enthusiasts.

Russian journalists who have been writing for very different editions - from very glamorous to professional watch editions - agreed upon making new-born Russian Watch Press Award namely journalistic award. That means the award was not any way supported by watch producers or their distributors in Russia.

The award's organizers decided not to arrange any full-dress functions, award ceremonies and did not even make bright diplomas for the winners to be kept as mementos.

The first stage was held the following way: participants made watch lists by different nominations. After long-lasting discussions they chose the following nominations: "Men's watch", "Ladies' watch", "Jewellery watch", "Sports watch", "Complicated watch", "Best Design" and finally "Watch with tourbillion".

The second stage - participants anonymously put points to every watch according to a ten-pointed scale. The watch that got the biggest number of points won in the nomination.

The three watches in the nomination "Men's watch" were the following: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporaine Platinum (the first place), A. Lange Sohne Richard Lange (the second one) and Ulysse Nardin Caliber 160 (the third one).

As for "Ladies' watch" - the first place got Girard-Perregaux Cat's Eye Bi-Retro, the second one - Patek Philippe Gondolo Gemma and the third one - Piaget Altiplano ref. 31106.

In "Jewellery watch" nomination Breguet Reine de Naples Plumes got the first place, Piaget Discobol the second one and Cartier Santos 100 Motif the third place.

In nomination "Sports watch" the first place got IWC Big Pilot Watch, the second one Ferrari by Panerai Gran Turismo and the third - Jaeger leCoultre AMVOX2.

As for "Complicated watch" nomination - Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Triptyque was the first, F. P. Journe Sonnerie Souverain got the second place and Audemars Piguet Tradition d'Excellence Cabinet 5 - the third one.

"Best design" nomination: the first place got Urwek Black Bird, the second one- Corum Golden Bridge and the third one Cartier Tank Crash.

The following watches were winners in "Watch with tourbillion" nomination: A. Lange Sohne Tourbograph took the first place, Richard Mille Tourbillion RM 012 - the second place and De Witt Academia Tourbillon Force Constante got the third one.

In honorable nomination "Best watch" the places were distributed the following way - the first place got A. Lange Sohne Tourbograph, the second one Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporain Platine and Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Triptyque the third.

The voting participants agreed upon holding Russian Watch Press Award annually and its results would be determined in a month after Basel and Geneva expositions. That means that Russian Watch Press Award 2007 is to take place in May of the coming year.
